| Balcony Waterproofing – Substrate inclusive of built in fall | The construction industry is seeing a trend towards balcony substrates inclusive of built in fall. Whilst the construction of such substrates is more challenging, they provide for numerous benefits including weight & cost reductions. Bravada recommends the installation of Ardex WPM 1000 Butynol Sheet membranes directly to suitable external substrates such as External Scyon. |
| Balcony Waterproofing – Fall required through use of screeds. | Bravada always recommends applying waterproofing membranes both under & over any screed installation, with Ardex Butynol sheet membrane under screed and Ardex liquid membrane over screed being our recommended system. Screed mixture & installation is a critical component of any formed balcony screed system. Bravada utilises pre mix sand/cement bags to help ensure mixture consistency and we apply an Ardex additive to the screed mixture to help enhance drying times and concrete mpa. |
| Flat Roof Waterproofing | Bravada recommends the use of sheet membrane systems for such applications, with considerations such as UV exposure, foot traffic requirements, colour and ballast requirements to be factored in when developing the most appropriate specification for each scenario. Ardex Black Butynol and Ardex TPO would be included in the recommended list of suitable options here. |
| Rooftop Gardens & Planter Boxes | Membrane applications here can be problematic given their exposure to moisture, plant roots and other potential sources of perforation so membrane selection & installation is critical. The need to properly waterproof protrusion entry points from water pipes and electrical conduit is also of critical importance. Bravada recommends the use of Ardex Root Repel sheet membrane system here although there are some suitable liquid membrane systems available that are highly durable. |
| Retaining Walls & Subterrannean Structures | Many new constructions are inclusive of car parks, garages, cellars, basements & other areas that reside below the ground surface level. The proper waterproofing of these areas is critical to prevent the entry of water and possible damage to the structures and their contents. This is a highly technical area that requires a case by case assessment and Bravada can develop an appropriate specification for any scenario (be it either positive or negative side waterproofing) that can be expertly installed by Bravada’s trained Applicators. |
